It's a clamshell style bearing puller. You can use it to pull bearings from the carrier and pinion. Works on Dana 30, 40,60, 70, 80, Ford 10.25 and other axles. Here's the link to Amazon for more info.

I believe that is so he can press on and off his carrier bearings while he is setting R&P. Don't have to make a set up set with that contraption.

My boss had a similar tool when he was setting up my gears. Saved a bunch of time and, like you said, made for a more accurate setup. Now you will be the re-gear dude buddy! You gots all the tools!

Pretty much all the tools. They'll come in handy when go for 1 tons.
