Here's some pictures of the things we'll encounter along the way.













As you can probably tell from the images, this is absolutely NOT a difficult set of trails/roads. To be very realistic, a ZJ with a 2" budge boost and 28" A/S tires *cough cough* should have absolutely 0 troubles with this set of trails. That said, it should be very scenic and a great path to take for the time of the year. It's also worth noting that you'll still want your vehicle to be in tip top shape. Regardless of how non-challenging these trails are, we will at times be up to 20+ miles from the nearest bit of civilization, in the middle of a bunch of mountains. The last thing you'll want here is a huge mechanical failure.

It's also worth noting that this is the path Top Gear USA took in their challenge to find the best 4x4 for under $5,000.

At the 10:00 mark of that video, they reach Ballarat, and then drive through the pass. It's a worthy watch if you'd like to see what it's about!

Sounds interesting Kenny! Chances are pretty slim for me making this. From what I remember of that episode, the trail does have some fun spots.

Fun spots for 3 guys that have never wheeled before who are attempting to pull non-offroad trailers over some small rocks with nothing but skinny pedal, yes. lol

man... this sounds like a blast. That's a bit far of drive for me with the semester at school that I am about to have. however, I'd probably be down to do this as a spring time run if you haven't gone by then.

So what's the deal Kenny? I see you lurking out there, lol! You gonna do this trip?

When I lived in Tucson I loved going out and finding the old gold/silver and turquoise mines. They were all over.

I would love to explore some of the mining towns in your neck of the woods. the Sierras have a lot of tucked away treasures to explore!
