How big is your antenna you have for your HAM radio for the Jeep? Can you have a small antenna? So many times I've seen these hug antennas on vehicles with HAM radios.
Can you get a hand held that will work good, so I can use it with the Jeep, then Rzr, then motorhome?
After getting pinned under that tree miles from now where and no cell service, and a good landing zone close by, it could have been a lot worse.
So would like to look into a portable unit.

For the 2m stuff indy is doing antennas are 19" or shorter (it's close to the frequency of a CHP handheld).

It's the HF long range stuff that wants long antennas (like the dispatch to car radios the CHP uses).

The FT-60 is the favorite for most people.

2.3 x 4.3 x 1.2 inches without antenna, the stock antenna is only about 6" long. I've got a slightly nicer antenna on mine thats about 10".

You can get much smaller ones as well, but the ft60 is a good balance of price, size, and simplicity.

Nice! It would be nice to have the extra long antenna, incase you needed it to get out if the smaller one is not cutting it because of your location.
