Slick Rock

Looks like there are going to be some changes at Slick Rock. This was an article in "In Gear".

" A
parcel of private property near Lake
Alpine adjacent to the trail has been
sold. The Forest Service has tried but
has been unable to obtain an easement
and the current owner does not
seem interested in giving the Forest
Service an easement. The new owners
have asked that the trail be rerouted
away from their property. "

"The Calavaras Ranger District has
already been scouting the area and
will be seeking to obtain a grant from
the OHMVR division for the potential
reroute and will start working on the
project in the spring once the snow
has melted."

Sounds like Slick Rock may not be available in the spring.

Well, that blows! Hopefully, they get it sorted out for next year. It's a fun trail.

Sounds like we may need to hit it from the other side then head back if we can't make it all the way.

So just talked to a buddy at lunch today, who talked to a ranger and ran the trail (til he hit snow) this weekend. The trail is OPEN for the summer. They'll be doing work on it in the middle of the weeks to divert a portion off of this dudes land, but it's wheel city, population slick rock.
