Ham Class

Postby 89YJBuilder » Mon Jan 20, 2014 10:35 pm

For anybody that is interested in ham radio there is going to be a test session and class in the Santa Rosa area. I have attached a copy of the flyer that I got emailed to me so I thought I would pass it on.

As well if any body is interested but doesn't know much about it you can ask or go to ARRLs web site arrl.org.

Doesn't seem to have attached correctly so maybe a mod can help. Or is this just because it is a pdf?

I can open it fine. I'll post a picture of it, just in case others can't open it

I might sign up for that. Been wanting to get my ham. If i do sign up, I might need some picking out a good ham for the jeep and some help with the install. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with my CB.

Always willing to help. Anything I can do I will.

I can give advice, help with installation and advise on quality radios. Been a ham since '07ish, have handhelds, mobiles and base units, and have installed three in vehicles. So I am not a pro but just like the proper name says Amateur Radio Operator. I have held both Technician and currently hold General class licence.

The equipment is more expensive than CB but far more capable. As with any other gear the better the quality the bigger the price tag. The level of licence you earn will govern your frequency rights and modes.

There are several online practice test taking sites that are free to access. There are several different books and study guides available as well.

PM or email me if you want to for further info or recommendations and I will do my best to help. As well the ham club in your area will be willing to help with info and recommendations for any and all aspects of ham. Again ARRL is a great reference and the site is free to search.
