From Quincy - Feather River Country

Postby Jim McClain » Sat Dec 17, 2016 2:00 pm

A friend from a Jeep KJ forum referred me here. Anyone here from Plumas County? I've lived here most of the last 59 years, but was an Army brat that moved around a lot before that. Drove my first Jeep in Vietnam, bought my first Jeep in 1971 and then struggled through life for over 40 years without a Jeep until last year. Proud owner of a 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited. My other car is a Segway.

My KJ just got lifted 3" the other day and the alignment was done today. What a huge difference. I've been a local landscape photographer for a little while and getting to the good locations has been so much easier with the KJ. It will be even better lifted. Looking forward to getting some bigger tires and doing a lot more to my Jeep.

Looking forward to participating here. Hope it's okay to post a photo of "home."

Welcome to the forum! That's a beautiful shot! Let's see a pic of your rig. Your not far from High Lakes. We've wheeled up there before.

Welcome to the forum! I go up to the Chester area to see the Mother In-law alot. Haven't done as much wheeling up there as I wanted too.
trail? What trail? We don't need no stinking trail

High Lakes is in my vicinity, although I've never been there. I did watch a couple videos of road trips there and it looks like fun.

Don't have many photos of my KJ, but I did capture this one with my cell phone right after the lift (before the alignment brought the front end down an inch).

New tires are gonna have to wait a bit, but I am looking forward to some 245/75R17 Duratracs for winter use on my stock wheels, then getting some nice 16x8 rims and tires to fit for the rest of the year. I like the rough roads around here and fording a creek once in a while, but I'm not going to be doing any heavy rock crawling. The kind of wheeling they do in this video appeals to me though.

I go up to a friend's mining claim once in a while at Twain. Also have a friend that lives in Quincy.
I'm also a Vietnam vet. Welcome home!

Thanks lowranger and thank you for your service. Who's your friend in Quincy? I might know him/her.
