Probably. We'll see how they handle the bigger tires first. I think I forgot to mention they said I had around 6mm left in rear and 7 in front on the stock pads. Although the bigger tires will probably eat that quick. I've read many reports of the rears being shot at 40K or so, but with all my stop & go city driving my suspicion is that the people that's happening to were running bigger tires right away.

Unless there's a serious braking deficit I think my plan will be to just upgrade the brakes when the pads wear. Although since the pads are still good, I could actually throw the big rotor kits on and space out the $$$ for new pads separately from that. Seems like it might be a good idea to have fresh pads with fresh rotors though and not use old pads with new rotors.

I'm at 125k and still on the factory pads, plenty of life left in them

Apparently the ABS, traction control, and "brake lock differential" system like to eat pads especially the rears on the JK's though.

Noticed this while putting some stuff in the Jeep this afternoon. Looks like new tires might happen sooner than expected. Guessing this isn't safe as a spare any longer. No idea what happened. Doesn't look man-made. Maybe rock damage that finally gave out? It's been sitting on the tire holder for about 1000 miles now and pretty sure it's new.

Looks like fabric when I look at it. Yeah really not sure wth happened. Pretty sure it's useless now. Was planning to have a couple months to recover from the hardtop thing since I blew most of my saved up Jeep fund on that which was supposed to cover something like 1/2 the new tires. Not sure about driving around without a usable spare though. Really tempts me to go for the Falkens and save $300 but I know I should stick with the Nitto's if possible to get the load C and possibly better tread pattern. We'll see though.

I'd wouldn't have a problem running it as a spare, I've done a lot worse to tires that carry a lot more weight

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about it for a spare. Just don't put it in rotation and you'll be fine till you get your new tires.
